Enhancements and problems fixed in Crystal Reports 8.5 for Adagio (20020923)

• A report printing utility called "Adagio PrintTool" is now included with Crystal Reports for Adagio. Adagio PrintTool provides the basic functionality of the Compiled Reports feature found in Softrak's Quik Reports for Windows product. PrintTool allows users to print reports without needing to run Crystal Reports itself. It provides a simpler way for users to print reports than using the Crystal Reports designer, and allows reports to be placed on the desktop. In addition, Adagio PrintTool saves users from purchasing additional copies of Crystal Reports for Adagio when multiple stations need to print (but not create or modify) reports.
• Sample reports have been reworked for Crystal 8.5. The sample reports originally written for Quik Reports for Windows have been updated to better utilize the functionality of Crystal Reports 8.5. Over 60 other new sample reports have been added, including the following. GLCurrentBalance.rpt prints from the posted transactions to show the balance as of a particular date (rather than by period). It calculates the opening balance and handles prior year postings. ARCustGrouped.rpt sorts customers by State / Province when State and City are stored on the same address line. ARAverageDaystoPay.rpt shows average days to pay for current and last year. Documentation for all sample reports is contained in each report itself under File | Summary Info. The report documentation can also be viewed in the hint displayed when you position the mouse on the report file in Windows Explorer and by Adagio PrintTool.
• Three of the new sample reports demonstrate new features of Crystal Reports 8.5 not found in Quik Reports for Windows. New features demonstrated include: Run-time Parameters, multiple detail sections, Report Alerts, Conditional Formatting, Sub-reports, On-demand Subreports, and linking by Subreport when a link is not otherwise available. These new sample reports are: OEParameters.rpt, ARCurrentHist.rpt and SRSalespersonQuota.rpt. 
• The Crystal Reports Text Object Support library (CRPaig32.DLL) is installed. This library may be required when you modify the reports in Adagio applications or when you create reports with database fields embedded in text objects.

• Initial release of Crystal Reports for Adagio.

Installing

To install Crystal Reports for Adagio you need the serial number and install code from the Product Label that came with the product, and the CD Key Code located on the CD cover.

If you are installing a Program Temporary Fix (PTF), you do not need to enter a serial number or install code. However, a previous version of Crystal Reports 8.5 for Adagio must be installed before the PTF can be installed.

To install Crystal Reports for Adagio, insert the CD in the drive. If Windows is set to Auto-Run on your system, the install screen will appear automatically. If not, use the Run option on the Windows start menu to locate the file STARTRP.EXE on your CD drive (usually drive D:), and then click OK to begin the install. Refer to the Crystal Reports for Adagio manual for details.

To install the Crystal Reports for Adagio PTF, run SETUP.EXE and follow the instructions on the screen. A workstation install is not required when installing the PTF.

Adagio PrintTool must be installed on each workstation where it will be run. This includes the workstation where Crystal Reports for Adagio was installed. To install Adagio PrintTool, run the PrintTool install program (PTSETUP.EXE). Note: Adagio Lanpaks cannot be used in conjunction with Crystal Reports for Adagio. If you require multiple seats, you must purchase separate copies of Crystal Reports for Adagio.
